Women United received a blessing from Seattle Foundation Black Joy & Wellness grant
Women United organized a staff and volunteer appreciation weekend getaway, titled ‘Black Joy and Wellness,’ at a serene beachfront retreat on Vashon Island. We had the pleasure of staying in a picturesque Air BNB that granted direct access to the beach, surrounded by expansive windows offering breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset. Together, we prepared meals, engaged in recreational activities, and enjoyed leisurely walks along the shoreline.
The highlight of Saturday evening was the captivating performance by renowned jazz saxophonist, Danny Welsh. With the setting sun as our backdrop, we immersed ourselves in the soulful melodies of smooth jazz, indulging in moments of pure joy. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the Seattle Foundation’s Black Joy & Wellness initiative for making this unforgettable experience possible. It truly was a time well spent, nurturing our collective well-being.
