Pepper Pot Kinship Support Group

Pepper Pot Kinship Support Group is a support group for grandmothers raising grandchildren. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. We gather for lunch at 11:30am. The Kinship caregivers check in with a wellness status, and brainstorm events and programs. Pepper pot support group members are involved in all aspects of programs and events i.e., Fish Fry Fundraiser, Love Train Community Block Party, Winter Wonderland Community Christmas Celebration and more.

In a home where love and care knew no bounds, the woman affectionately known as Mama became a sanctuary for many. Her dedication saw her home always filled with laughter and the footsteps of her grandchildren, alongside those of her own children. She devoted her life to nurturing and guiding them, a testament to unconditional love and sacrifice. This legacy of love and care was deeply instilled in Alesia, who, inspired by her mother's unwavering commitment, strives to support and uplift other grandmothers, ensuring they too can leave a lasting, loving impact on their families. The story of Mama, a beacon of selflessness, continues to inspire a community that cherishes kinship and the profound bonds it creates.

THEY CALLED HER MAMA!

That's who she was. As far back as I can remember there were lots of kids at our house. These kids were the babies of my older sisters. The older siblings left their children with Mama and I assisted mama with my younger siblings and the grandchildren in her care as a teenager. Mama spent her life taking care of grandchildren until she took her last breath. Little did I know that the torch would be handed to me, and since the torched was passed to me my goal is to insure all grandmothers shine and leave a legacy of love for the family members they are caring for. A Legacy of Love that will make our Mama's proud. When my mama was raising 10 children and grandchildren they did't received any support like the support we have today in Kinship Care.
